Breathing a sigh of relief that our region escaped the wrath of Hurricane Dorian, while our thoughts are with those who suffered through the storm in the Bahamas as well as those who are in the storm’s future path …
It was a thrill and honor to stand before you at the August event and be installed as your 2019-2020 chapter president. During my speech, I introduced our chapter’s theme this year: Karma.
The origin of the concept of karma has roots in Hinduism and Buddhism. It refers to the spiritual principle of cause and effect where a person’s intent and actions influence their future. The theme ties into our goals of being a trusted organization and doing good. Our board is filled with passionate and enthusiastic individuals who have started the karma ball rolling. Our Operation Gratitude fundraiser, occasional bridge walks, a bimonthly book club, and mentorship programs are already underway. We hope all of our members become engaged and involved. There are lots of opportunities!
You’ll find our theme reflected in new features in our monthly newsletter. I will be making “Karma Shout-Outs” to members who go above and beyond to promote our chapter and our profession. We’re also seeking “feel-good news” from your clients and/or organizations – see below.
Our professional development events will continue to offer members a variety of topics where we can learn, grow and have fun. I hope to see you at “Shake it Up” on September 25 – please note the unique time. Cheers!
Thanks to all of you for your support and belief in me. I don’t take that for granted.
Sincerely,
Kim Livengood, APR, CPRC
