SARASOTA, FL – February 5, 2025 – Jennifer Hemmerdinger has achieved a prestigious milestone by earning her accreditation in public relations. In receiving the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) designation, Hemmerdinger joins more than 5,000 professionals nationwide, representing an elite group of highly skilled public relations professionals committed to practicing with exemplary ethical standards. Hemmerdinger serves as the Ernst & Young LLP (EY US) Public Relations Leader for the Government & Public Sector and EY Private. Based in Sarasota, she develops and executes external communications strategies and campaigns to support business priorities and elevate the EY US brand nationally. She promotes EY through proprietary research, media relations, thought leadership development, conferences, awards, round tables and social media. Hemmerdinger collaborates with the marketing team, public policy, general counsel’s office and global counterparts to align on messaging and key campaigns. Previously she led PR for Americas Tax, Consulting and supported Talent. She joined EY in 2016 after nearly a decade-long career as a print and online business journalist in New Hampshire and Washington, D.C. During her time as a journalist, she covered Capitol Hill, the IRS, municipal bonds, the federal budget, the debt ceiling and state and local tax policy, among other topics. Hemmerdinger had the privilege of covering President Obama’s 2011 State of the Union address. “After nine years as a business journalist and just as many in corporate PR, I was ready for something new — an opportunity to deepen my expertise and challenge myself,” said Hemmerdinger. “Although I hadn’t taken an exam since grad school in 2009, I was motivated by the encouragement of my Florida Public Relations Association peers and eager to advance my professional development. I knew obtaining my APR would build credibility, enhance my strategic thinking and expand my professional network. Continuous learning isn’t just beneficial — it’s essential for staying relevant and excelling in public relations.” Hemmerdinger is the Membership Director locally for the Central West Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (CWC-FPRA). She is a past recipient of CWC-FPRA’s 2024 Thomas Nunan Rising Star Award. She also serves on the Florida Public Relations Education Foundation Board of Directors. The APR examination is administered by the Universal Accreditation Board (UAB), an alliance of eight national and statewide professional associations dedicated to furthering the field of public relations and the development of public relations professionals. The Florida Public Relations Association is a member of the UAB.
