The Central West Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (CWC-FPRA) is an organization filled with more than 100 communicators, public relations and marketing professionals in Sarasota, Bradenton and Venice. They are drawn to a good story, especially ones that are inspiring.

CWC-FPRA members befriended a local toy inventor and filmmaker, Tim Walsh, who produced a documentary titled OPERATION: Operation The Power of Play. This 28-minute documentary chronicles the classic American story of John Spinello, who struck a raw deal to sell the game patent for $500. He forfeited his rights to royalties and saw the game go on to sell 45 million copies. This is the story of how John’s broken heart was mended after learning the game he invented has touched many more people, in many more ways than he ever could have imagined.

John is now 82-years-old and although not bitter, his financial situation forced him to sell his dream home and drives for a ride-sharing service. CWC-FPRA wants to help this man who continues to bring joy to so many people.

A portion of money raised from this event will also benefit Family Network on Disabilities of Manasota (FND), a local non-profit organization that assists families of children with disabilities and special needs to go “from Heartache to Hope – One Family at a Time.”
