Accreditation
in Public Relations
(APR)

An Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) credential showcases your drive, professionalism and knowledge of public relation’s foundational principles. This sets you apart from your peers and positions you as a leader and mentor in the competitive public relations field.

The APR process is governed by the Universal Accreditation Board (UAB), of which the Florida Public Relations Association is a member.

This means that all FPRA members are eligible to earn their APR.

REQUIREMENTS

Five years of paid, full-time experience in the professional practice of public relations (or in the teaching or administration of public relations courses in an accredited college or university) is recommended but not required.

PROCESS

Candidates are tested on the body of knowledge that make up the public relations field, including research, planning, ethics, communication models, history, law, business literacy and more.

PREPARATION

The Central West Coast Chapter provides several study sessions and workshops throughout the year for the credential programs. Check the chapter’s calendar or contact us for details. There also is an online study course promoted by the UAB.

APR MAINTENANCE

Accredited professionals must maintain their APR credential and commitment to the sound and ethical practice of public relations every three years. Maintenance can be achieved through lifelong learning, participating in industry events, giving back to local Accreditation programs or some combination of the above.

COST

The APR application and examination fee is $385, which is due at the time of application.

REBATES

Central West Coast Chapter members who successfully earn their APR credential are eligible to recieve a rebate of $85 from the chapter. This is in addition to the $100 rebate awarded by FPRA.
