Sarasota, FL – October 24 – The Central West Coast chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (CWC-FPRA) is back for the second cycle of the “Mission Mavericks” program. The program is part of CWC-FPRA’s commitment to give back to the community. Nonprofits are encouraged to apply. Those selected will receive pro bono communications support in an area of acute need by highly experienced members of the association. The application window is now open through Nov. 15, 2024. Applicants will be notified of their status in December.
The program is open to 501(c)(3) nonprofits who have limited or no PR, communications, and/or marketing staff. The organization must be based in or conduct significant business/activities in Sarasota, Manatee and/or DeSoto counties. To be considered, the organization must demonstrate an acute PR, communications, or marketing need.

Examples of potential projects include: providing a custom press release template and best practices for media outreach; building out brand guidelines, including logo design; developing a list of local media contacts; setting up an e-newsletter template and guidance on content development; and more.

“In the aftermath of two historic storms, nonprofits across our community are navigating complex communications challenges on their road to recovery – which encourages our chapter even more to be a resource in these moments of great need,” said Hunter Carpenter, APR, President of CWC-FPRA. “We’re fortunate to have a wealth of expertise within our ranks, and Mission Mavericks is our way of channeling our members’ passion for giving back to help local organizations ‘fly far with PR’.  I hope local nonprofits will apply today and take part in our second-annual flight.”

CWC-FPRA launched Mission Mavericks in Fall 2023 and selected Children’s Guardian Fund as its inaugural nonprofit beneficiary. Over a four-month period, the chapter drafted press release templates, conducted a one-on-one website design consultation, and developed a human-interest story pitch around a laptop donation drive initiative.
