Mischa Kirby, APR, CWC-FPRA President 2017
Where are you now?
Community Foundation of Sarasota County in the role of Vice President, Strategic Communications & Marketing
What FPRA means to you?
FPRA is about trust. Being able to reach out to other members for advice is one of the greatest benefits of being part of FPRA. We have some incredibly talented and smart communications pros in our area and across the state, and every FPRA member is
more than willing to take a call, email or coffee to be a sounding board for other members.
What was your biggest accomplishment or Ah-ha moment as president of the CWC-
FPRA?
The public relations profession is a reflection of its practitioners. The more welcome,
engaged and involved a chapter’s members are, the better the profession is recognized, which is good for all of us! So, have fun and get involved!
Favorite book or website that you recommend to PR professionals:
For work, the podcast, “Marketplace” with Kai Ryssdal. Not only does he have a great voice and delivery (those writers!), but the business knowledge shared is so useful and relatable. I also just read “Don’t think of an Elephant” by George Lakoff, which is a fascinating look (no matter your politics) at how language is integrated into everyday life to frame issues.
