Each year, the Central West Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association recognizes members who go over and above to promote our chapter and our profession. Along with Chapter Member of the Year, we also bestow the Thomas Nunan Rising Star Award, the Ginya Carnahan Promoting the Profession Award, and the Ginnie Duffey Troyer Award of Professionalism.
Thomas Nunan, APR owned a local Public Relations firm and served as the CWC-FPRA president from 2007 – 2008. When he passed away in 2009, this award was named in his honor to recognize an individual that is involved energetically and enthusiastically in chapter projects, exhibits a desire to pursue leadership opportunities in FPRA, displays a professional attitude, and exercises professional conduct.
Ginnie Duffey Troyer, APR, CPRC became one of the first CWC members to earn her accreditation in 1988, she then served as FPRA state president in 1995, and was awarded the prestigious John W. Dillin Award in 1999. The award named in her honor, recognizes an individual from the chapter who exemplifies the highest standards of the public relations profession. Recipients support the chapter to help raise the level of professionalism and promote FPRA in our community.
Ginya Carnahan, APR, CPRC’s career has included leadership positions in public and private hospitals, physician offices and ancillary healthcare organizations. She served as the CWC Chapter president in 2000 and has been honored with many FPRA awards including, the Doris Fleischman Award and the prestigious Joseph J. Curley Public Relations Lifetime Achievement Award. The award named in her honor is presented to a member who displays the highest level of professionalism in the public relations field.
