Local Public Relations Association Commemorates 50 Years of Industry Innovation with Reunion Event

SARASOTA, FL – May 7, 2025 – The Central West Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (CWC-FPRA) is thrilled to host the upcoming event, 1975–2025: A 50-Year Evolution of Public Relations, with speaker Virginia (Ginya) Carnahan, APR, CPRC, commemorating half a century of transformative changes in the PR industry.

Carnahan brings decades of storytelling brilliance and leadership to the table, having earned top honors including the Doris Fleischman Unsung Hero Award presented by the statewide Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) and the prestigious Joseph J. Curley Public Relations Lifetime Achievement Award. With a career that spans hospital communications, award-winning campaigns, and leadership roles across FPRA and beyond, Carnahan offers a wealth of insight and some fantastic stories – making this event a rare opportunity to connect with a seasoned PR pro and a distinguished past-president of CWC-FPRA.

“Our region is full of gifted communications and marketing professionals, and we’re fortunate to have an industry legend like Ginya Carnahan so close to home, and so willing to share her experience,” said Hunter Carpenter, APR, President of CWC-FPRA. “Everyone is welcome to journey through the last half century of public relations with us – we want to make this quite the homecoming for Ginya!”

In 2017, CWC-FPRA renamed its Promoting the Profession Award in Carnahan’s honor, a recognition that celebrates an individual from the chapter who exemplifies the highest standards of the PR profession. May’s event will bring together past recipients of this award for a reunion nearly a decade in the making. 1975–2025: A 50-Year Evolution of Public Relations will take place on Wednesday, May 14 from 4:30 – 6 p.m. at Senior Friendship Centers (1888 Brother Greenen Way, Sarasota, FL 34236). The event is free, but advance registration is required. Registration is available at cwcfpra.com/events and closes on Monday, May 12.
