What Manasota Non Profit PR Professionals Are Earning This Year
Community Foundation Annual Survey of Salaries & Benefits Is Now Available

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County’s Nonprofit Resource Center recently released the newly published 2010 Nonprofit Compensation and Benefits Report, covering salaries, benefits and related policies in the Sarasota and Manatee County nonprofit sector. The average reported nonprofit salary for the VP of Marketing, based on 20 respondents, is $55,871, with an average 2.5 years in the position. The average reported nonprofit salary for the Communications Specialist, based on 7 respondents, is $48,038 with an average 3.0 years in the position. Further breakdowns are available based on organizational operating budget and mission focus.

The survey data was compiled from nearly 100 participating local organizations and was designed to help agencies understand trends resulting from the economic downturn and aid in setting competitive salaries and benefits to attract and retain employees. PR News recently spoke with CSR experts from both the corporate and agency worlds, to find out their strategies, tactics and best practices in selecting the right CSR initiative for an organization.The proper selection of a CSR initiative starts when an organization is setting its overall CSR strategy, says Trent Ross, senior VP of Ipsos Public Affairs.

Here’s an interesting item sent to us by an alert CWC-er. It's a creative approach to meshing business goals with a CSR initiative.

Dozens of dancers crashed an Earth Day celebration in Jacksonville, Fla., Saturday. They donned Tim Tebow-inspired jerseys and danced to the Ke$has song, “Tick Tock.” The North Florida Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America organized the dancers to help promote a local t-shirt maker who’s working to donate 1 million t-shirts to Africa. Smith Construction, Inc., the oldest Construction Management firm in Sarasota, has completed the Masters in Business Administration Degree Program at the Sarasota Campus of Webster University. Ms. Lipoff took her classes in the evenings while working full-time for the firm, and finished the program in two years. She will participate in the June 5th graduation ceremony with her fellow classmates.

Gulf Coast Community Foundation is accepting applications for our 2010 Class of Gulf Coast Leadership Institute. Up to 25 individuals from across the region will be selected for this three-month leadership development program. Participants receive seven sessions of leadership training conducted by the nationally recognized Fanning Institute of the University of Georgia and  the opportunity to network with other leaders.
