CWC Blog Post Highlights Professional Benefits of Pro Bono Bank

CWC Blog Post Highlights Professional Benefits of Pro Bono Bank
Misha Kirby, CWC Director of Community Service

An excerpt from a recent CWC blog post by Misha Kirby, CWC Director of Community Service:

The message posted by Citizens for Better Schools on Facebook at 9:23 p.m. Tuesday evening confirmed the school property tax referendum results almost two hours before the evening news reporting the poll tallies.

This community could NOT ask for better partners & supporters. From the SCTA to the Argus Foundation, HuB, Sarasota County Democratic Party, Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce ... lots of PTOs - especially Pine View Association (you ROCK!) - not to mention literally 1000s of students, parents, teachers, businesses - you visioned a brighter future for our students and you DELIVERED! Thank you!”

I found out the results like most of the group’s other 982 Facebook friends: on my blackberry from the comfort of my home. Even though I was far from the official Citizens for Better Schools celebration party, I felt like part of a team, and not just because I voted in favor of the continuation. Seven weeks ago I volunteered to help CBS manage their social networks as part of the grassroots campaign. The opportunity came from the CWC’s pro bono project bank, a section of our chapter’s web site where groups and smaller non-profits can ask for professional communications help for most any project or campaign imaginable.
